I have a 2tb seagate goflex desk external that has i think 3 bad sectors in it. I have most of my files pulled from it & moved to a replacement.I have some movies & some other things that still need pulled.I was wondering if they still can be since some are saying something about an I/O error.I'm not sure if the file is bad or if it's due to the bad sectors. The movies I can prob replace, but the scrapkits & such I can't refind to replace. I just figured I'd pop in & ask:) thankies

Firstly can you let us know what Operating system you have & also what antivirus/spyware software you use.
Secondly, if you go into the Control panel & then device manager are there any red X's or ? marks next to the device.

Sure I use Xp on that system--I do believe it's up to date. I have Avast on that system & I have Malwarebytes & i think I did have Super Antispyware but not sure if that 1 is still installed.no red x's are visible for any of the drives hooked to the comp system.I did run a diagnostic tool recommended by the manufacturer.
This started right after the power supply went bad on my tower.I'm thinking it mighta damaged the external since it was still hooked to the computer at the time.If i recall right the scan said it had 3 bad sectors & repaired 2 more.(not good I know)

I have used a program called CDCheck to recover files in that exact circumstance. I know that it says that it's for CDs and DVDs, but it works just the same on hard drives. Best of all, it's very easy to use.
Absolutum obsoletum. (If it works, it's out of date.)
