I have XP with IE7. IE8 is showing in my February Windows Updates. Should I install it or can I keep IE7?

Angela, every computer is different, so it's hard to make a blanket recommendation. Many folks like IE8 better than IE7 on their XP machines. But some have not been happy with it. You could try it and if you don't like it, you can always revert to IE7.

Here's some information on IE8: http://www.microsoft...?id=43#overview

And the release notes: http://msdn.microsof...-us/ie/dd441788

It's been trying to install on my computers for geez, seems like years now.
Yesterday it sneaked in on me on one of the computers. I will let it ride and see
how it's working, if it shows any signs of problems or difficulty with anything,
I'll delete it. No big deal.

It's not as simple as deleting it if you don't like it, you'll either have to block installation on the updates website or install a toolkit discussed in another post on this board. Microsoft is force installing it otherwise (IE8 on XP, IE9 on Vista/Windows 7).

Oh didn't realize that.
It was blocked on the website. Then yesterday I wasn't paying close attention and
it installed on one of the computers. Not sure how it got in there but it's not my
computer so maybe settings got changed. I'll go check out the information. Too much
going on lately.

Thanks for the info, Ally and Judy. I guess I will block it for now, operating under the 'if it ain't broke...' principle. :)
