I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and don't care for it and want to delete it from my computer. I went into Control Panel, clicked on Add/Remove programs and it won't open. Can someone please help me. Thank you

Add/remove programs wouldn't open? Are you in an account with administrative privileges? If not, you don't have sufficient privileges to add or remove programs.

If you're getting any kind of error message and error number when you try to open it, posting that would help as well.

Can you read this post and give us the information we need to help you? http://www.community...unity-feedback/

There could be many possible reasons why this is happening, but to pare down that list, a little info, such as the operating system on your computer, antivirus program installed, when the problem started, etc. helps us tremendously in trying to help you.

I have Windows XP is an eMachine desktop Browser is Internet Explorer anti virus is Norton, Firewall Norton . My problem started yesterday after I downloaded Mozilla Firefox. I didn't understand it , so I wanted to delete it all together from my computer. I clicked on Control Panel, clicked on Add/Remove Programs, and it won't open up. I will stay there for a little while then disappear. I get no error message ... nothing.

I really don't think installing Firefox has anything to do with the problem. If it did, there would be complaints all over the web about installing Firefox breaking add/remove programs and there aren't. Norton may have locked down permissions for the Control Panel, it could be a malware issue or operating system corruption.

If you have had no problems in the past, try disabling Norton and see if you can uninstall it. If that doesn't work, boot into safe mode (reboot and as the computer is powering up, tap or hold down the F8 key. You should land on a screen with Windows boot options. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to tab to safe mode and hit enter. A whole bunch of files will load, then Windows will load in safe mode. Choose the administrator's account to log in to).

Once in safe mode, see if you can successfully uninstall Firefox. If you cannot, let me know. There are other things you can try.

ok I just disabled Norton and that didn't work. I have to go out in a little while and won't be back until later then I will try to boot into safe mode like you suggested. I will let you know how that went when I do it. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for all your help. I had several other problems with my outdated computer that I went out and bought a new one today. Hopefully I won't have any trouble for a good while.

I guess that's one way of tackling the problem.

Thanks for letting me know and good luck with your new computer.
