Hi,
I used to have Avast but decided to delete it. I took it out of my programs but constantly get pop ups saying I still need to pay for it. I am unable to download anything such as hijack this since I get an empty box once I click "save"
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Try using their uninstall tool here: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
My train of thought derailed. There were no survivors.

If you have a USB Flash drive, you can download HJT from another computer (a friends, the Library, etc.) and drag and drop it into a folder you make for it and run it from there. Then please read the instuctions at the top of the Malware Help board and post a log over there.
When you say you "took it out of my programs" did you use the correct procedure thro' Control Panel or just delete it from your Programs list?

~ The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked! ~
I learn something new every day....unfortunately, technology invents 20 new things every day! It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to have to paint it.

Thanks. The only thing is I can't download anything. I get a blank downloaded box when I try. I can't get the part where you save it to your desk top.
Also I did delete Advast from my programs from the control panel and it's not there.

Since you can't get programs to run and we can't fix your computer "hands on", it's going to be difficult to impossible to figure out why and how to correct it. You should probably take your computer in for repair.
