I have tried everything to make a copyright symbol on this laptop.
I have googled everywhere.
I have done it all......FN+ALT and the whole shebang, and it won't work so I made one into a brush at Paint Shop Pro

I know that Windows has a symbol list but I haven't gone that route yet.

I use them mostly for PSP, so, unless someone comes up for the right formula for me, I'll have to use the brush. LOL

I have Windows7

You should be able to get it by holding down the Alt key & then pressing 0169 © but you've probably tried that already.
If you go to start, all programs, Accessories, system tools, that is where you will find character map. It shows all the symbols and you can copy & paste them.
Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window.

My Laptop is a Dell Inspiron M5030 (number from the label on the back?) LOL

Will check out the character map mumsboys. My brush one is working good but it's always the same font.
Holding down the alt+0169 only works on my desktop.

Look at these keys

7 8 9
UIO
JKL
M
and see if they have small numbers in blue. If they do, hold the Fn key and the ALT key and type 0169 using those blue characters.

Nope, Figgy, now blue numbers on any of those keys, hon.
Thanks anyways.

No luck with the mjo9 in lower or caps.
Thanks for helping, Just-Me

This is sure a mystery. I've even googled.

Darn!

You may want to give the Dell support forum a shot, schnoozs. http://en.community....op/default.aspx

Or get in touch with Dell support and ask them.

A handy way to always have the symbol ready (once you've managed to get it once) is to copy and paste it into Notepad and save it on your Desktop and then you can copy it from your saved Notepad file to where you want to put it in future.

Copy/paste this symbol into Notepad and save it:- ©

schnoozs, what are the blue characters on the upper row of your keyboard? (i managed to find a photo here http://www.dell.com/...amd-m5030&s=bpi in the gallery, which shows the keyboard, but i can't read what's on those keys.)

since most laptops seem to use function keys for the number pad, maybe they put them up there?

I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look very good either.

i just found something else... try pressing Fn+num lk, then see if mjo9 works. or ctrl+fn+num lk (you'll have to repeat that key sequence to turn it off again so you can use those keys as letters.)

Snoops,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I know about that way of making and using that symbol from notepad.
As I said earlier, you can go to your Windows symbols and use them too.
I'm just asking if anyone knows a way to do it with my laptop keyboard like the way we do it on a desktop.

Kali, the blue letters on the top row of keys are F1 thru F12.
I don't quite understand what you're telling me to try, hon.
What is num lk?
I don't see that on my keyboard.

Judy, I went to the Dell/Laptop forum and posted.
Waiting for an answer.
Thanks

OK, I just got an answer at the Dell Laptop forum and someone told me just to use my character map and copy and paste it.
I just pasted it into my PSP text box and it worked well.

I just thought there was one, like the ALT0169 , that would work on my laptop.

No Figgy, there are no numbers on those keys at all, hon.

LOL, I went to the Dell Laptop forum and they have mentioned all kinds of ways to make the symbol but nothing is working except for using my character map so I think I'll just stick with that for now, unless someone comes up with a code that works. ;);)

If you still have a desktop PC keyboard, you can always plug that into the back of your laptop when your doing your PSP stuff and use that keyboard to put your Alt codes in.
