Explorer 8 Problem

I have been using Explorer 8 with XP for many months. Suddenly I can't save a web jpg and the following message appears:- "A problem with this web page caused internet explorer to close and reopen the tab. This tab has been recovered'.

This is happening when I right click the picture and select 'save as'. It happens on every web page I try it on.

I have scanned with malware bytes, ccleaner & AVG. All scans were clear.

Apart from this problem the computer is working very well.

Help With File Recovery Please

I have a 2tb seagate goflex desk external that has i think 3 bad sectors in it. I have most of my files pulled from it & moved to a replacement.I have some movies & some other things that still need pulled.I was wondering if they still can be since some are saying something about an I/O error.I'm not sure if the file is bad or if it's due to the bad sectors. The movies I can prob replace, but the scrapkits & such I can't refind to replace. I just figured I'd pop in & ask:) thankies

Somehow I must have let it get past me, but when I was updating to the new version of Adobe Flash it also downloaded/installed the Google Toolbar. I went in to Add-Remove and removed it, ran ATF, and rebooted. Is there anything else I need to do?

Hi, have just down loaded Windows7 onto my netbook.....been downloading the updates over the last few days, but its now seems very slow, I was wondering if it was one of the updates

at the moment apart from google chrome, and windows firewall and virus protection theres not much else loaded

Problem With Lappy Display Size

Hi

I have a new lappy and have only one problem with it. My installed games are very small on the display. It wasn't always like that and I have no idea what changed.

I've checked the screen res size which is still at the recommended size
The games are all still set to display full size.
My anti-virus things haven't changed
I ran disc cleanup and defrag but nothing changed afterwards

I'm running windows 7. Absolutely everything else is displaying as it should.

I had McAfee installed thru my cable company & a month or so ago I started having issues with Mcafee's secure search tool bar & I started getting errors that said it had 2 rootkits in the toolbar. So I tried to uninstal McAfee & all its componets it all uninstaled but the toolbar. I installed AVG, now I have the same problem with AVG. I called my cable company this morning & they said it should be a pretty easy fix but I need a tech to help me. I'm not tech savy. Can some1 plzzzzzzz help?

For the last couple of days I have not been able to login to my profile in yuku communities using my PC Windows7 64bit IE9 However I can using Google Chrome on the same PC

I have a Netbook with Windows XP IE8 that I have no problem logging in to yuku with.

It seems to me that something has been changed to prevent me from doing this . I did have my Grandson here and wonder if he has altered something. Any ideas please ?

Persistant Message Script Causing Browser To Run

I recently had my Norton run out and had to download the trend micro titanium for a few days until we can drive to the city for another Norton. Soooo, I uninstalled Norton so that Trend Micro can be installed properly, that went thru no problem, but ever since then, when I go into Facebook, a nagging box appears saying something like a script running is causing your browser to run slow or something like that, I will go in there after this message and come back and tell you exactly what it says. I eliminated alot of start up programs as suggested by microsoft and it keps happening. I did a scan and nothing showed up. Im using IE 8 and have Windows 7. Also, coming in here is not a problem and checking email is not a problem and other sites, just facebook. ya its killing me not being able to be in there, if I try to scroll down my page the message keeps popping up and you have to either hit yes or no and it pops back up a second later. I miss facebook lol, I know I have no life

How do I make a screen shot so I can show you what has happened?
When I tried to get on the computer just now, a big box popped up instead of getting me online.

finally I clicked O.K. and then a thing came on saying that my computer had to be updated ,to Explorer 8
so I clicked O.K,. then it came up with a thing to click for Firefox then said your Browser has now been updated. but everything was different.
and there is also a yellow thing at the top that now say
"Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled. click her to manage, disable or remove your add-ons.
"What happened ?? and how do I get things back like they were?

New To Windows 7, Help Finding Things

I have a new pc, using windows 7, and first thing Ive noticed I cannot see a refresh page option. Very pesky. I am using Firefox, although may try Chrome.
My 2nd problem, I clicked contol>h for history, and when I clicked off it left the frame at the left hand side when I'm in online groups and games, like Zynga games, facebook. Its just the frame at the sidebar remains, making gameppages and facebook narrow. It isn't showing here, on this forum, I have the whole wide page!

Hi.

I heard about some xp users being forced to install 8 but I have windows7 home premium and this 9 got installed when I turned on my machine. I have all updates etc to be authorized by me. It is not automatic, so I would guess I need a blocking tool for my other computers right? (if I didn't want 9, like on my laptop vista)

Know what I mean? I'm going to use 9 right now. It is different for sure. Text looks different, back page arrows diff and for sure, the E icon at the bottom. I thought it looked kinda big and different..

I used to have Avast but decided to delete it. I took it out of my programs but constantly get pop ups saying I still need to pay for it. I am unable to download anything such as hijack this since I get an empty box once I click "save"

A friend has contacted me for help & in her email she tells me that she is getting the following message while trying to access most (maybe all) websites on one of her computers (Win XP):

She also told me that her hotmail account was recently hacked. I asked how she knew this & she said she couldn't get in there anymore.
She said that she got an email from hotmail after this & they asked for her secret question and what the last 2 or 3 emails she had sent were or who they were sent to & she couldn't answer the questions so she had to open a new account. I told her that as far as I know hotmail does not send those kinds of emails & not to give out any information.
I don't think the hotmail has anything to do with the security errors she is getting now as she is not having any problems with her laptop that she uses regularly to access her email accounts.
What do you all think? Any suggestions on what to do with her desktop to solve the security error issue?

Need Help Installing New Driver For Printer

I recently got a new laptop that runs Windows 7 and yesterday I tried to scan a document and got a message that my printer was not compatible with Windows 7. My old laptop's O/S was XP. I have been all over the internet trying to find a free download for a compaible driver but so far I haven't been able to find one. Can someone please help me with this. Thank you.

Help With Cursor !

I'm sure some members would know immediately what to do, but I have tried resetting my mouse and cursor and nothing seems to be working.

At first I thought something might be running in the background since I can try to type an email and it is as if the cursor is a ghost.
It makes it difficult to space back as there is no flashing line to tell exactly where the cursor is.

It also happens while trying to open a new tab and do a search..

Anyone have this problem and how did you resolve the issue?

BTW I did install FireFox recently.

My laptop came w/ the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable already installed. In trying to find out what it does, the only thing I've discovered is that it is for "developers". I'm not a developer. Can I safely uninstall it, or is it somehow connected w/ another program on the computer ?

Problem With Windows Update

Hi everyone
got a problem with windows update
i have downloaded one which is security update for explorer 8 but it won't install. ( kb2618444 )
on the help site it said to download and use Microsoft update standalone package kb947821 which i have done and still no joy.
everytime i switch off the pc it says installing updates and then it fails to install.
is there anyway i can get this removed from the pc or even a way to install it?
i'm running win 7 64 bit.

I recently downloaded Zoosk onto my pc, and now cant remove it even though i have deleted my account. I have looked to see it it is running in the background, (control, alt, delete ) and believe it is, but i am unable to uninstall it. They have recommended that I unistall them, but I have never had any conflict with Avira before & these programs.

It is to fix critical issues that some users may be having, including a a startup crash, when the browser is opened, and a Java issue that causes text fields to hang. There are a few other more minor issues that will also be addressed.

It's been released now, so your browser’s auto-updating feature should recognize that it's available and prompt you to update automatically. If for some reason it doesn't, you can go to "Help - About Firefox - Check for Updates" and get it that way.

Slow Computer

My computer is slow, won't shut down via the start/turn off computer/turn off. I downloaded Auslogics boost speed and it said there were loads wrong but that I needed to buy it in order to fix them so I dunno if there really is something majorly wrong. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Also I am using Avira antivirus is that a good one? I want something for virus/malware/spyware and whatever else I may need. I am running Windows XP home edition.

This is about my daughters laptop, it has Vista OS
it has Spyware Blaster, SuperAnitSpyware, Sunbelt Personal Firewall, Mal-ware bytes and Avira anitvirus (all free programs)
is this to many to have on this laptop? because I thought I would delete Avira and try Avast, but when I tried to download Avast I got a blue screen that said something about "if this is your first time seeing this page, restart your computer" and some other things. I thought maybe Avast could not be used on her computer so I started to reinstall Avira and when I did, a box popped up and said it was checking for other programs..it found Javacool Spyware Blaster, SuperAnitSpyware free editon, and sunbelt personal firewall, it told me to uninstall all of those because they would not work with Avira????
could someone help me and tell me what I'm doing wrong

Computer is running slow and all my scans came out clean...my friend looked through the registry and found EnableLUA and said it was a trojan.
He also found other stuff like mediachance and leader tech and told me to ask in here about it.

Cd Burner Not Working

I haven't used my burner for a long time. I'm sure it was before I got all my upgrades and installed FF so that's been awhile.
Now, when I try to play or burn any cd, it does nothing. I see the lil green light blinking but it keeps telling me that I have to install a CD burner.
I tried going to the HP site to look for driver updates and such and it keeps telling me that I need some kind of FRAME net something.
I can however play music already saved on my puter.
Real Player updated today but can't find where or how to update Windows Media Player.
Sorry but my nerves are already shot with this..lol

Wireless Wi-Fi With No Desktop

I am investigating hooking up wireless wi-fi in parent's house. They have no computer. A way for everyone that goes there to connect their various laptops, iPods, etc. to wi-fi. I know it's possible but can someone just briefly explain how? I won't be doing it most likely but need to get armed with some basic info on it before I start calling companies. Thanks!

No Sound

I have a compaq SR2050NX media center that I recently had a mother board go out on it. I purchased an OEM mother board exact replacement (new) for it. I installed the mother board with no headaches except I hve worked for 5 hours and still can NOT get sound to come from rear panel jacks. I have spent countless hours reading google and hp's website to make sure it has the right drivers. To my knowledge it does and still NO sound.

Under device manager under system devices the Microsoft UAA bus driver for High definition Audio is there
Under device manager under sound devices there is the Realtek High definition Audio driver there.

I need some help here to get sound out of the rear jacks again. There is sound out of the front jack only in the headphone jack NOTHING for the rear.

with my xp I can select 10 zip files and extract and they automatically will unzip without clicking on 10 different boxes and clicking yes

Hi me again lol!
I have not gotten my new laptop hooked up to the internet yet, but today I turned it on and got the desktop and started playing aroung by moving the cursor, and right clicking to see if I could get a folder, etc. I'm learning how to use my fingers on the key pad instead of a mouse. lol!
I pulled up "Programs" >Games, > Solitaire. and Regular solitaire came on, but I want Spider Solitaire, evidently it is not on Windows 7 ? or if it is, I don't know how to get it. Can anyone help? Thanks Nicki

I got a new laptop computer and it says to download a "Recovery"" for it , and to get an 8 GB Flash Drive.
I found a "PNY 8GB USB Flash Drive" reg $24.99 on sale for $8. 99 so I bought 2 of them.
Today I was going to do the recovery thing, but when I tried to get the cover off the Flash Drive to plug it into the computer,
it won't come off!
I don't want to force it off and break it, there is also a little thing, in the package that is about 1 inch long
and maybe 1/4 inch wide, and it has a picture of something on it ?? that looks like a tiny little wrench.???
I thought maybe it was to poke into the end of the flash drive to loosen something, but, sure don't want to do something that will mess things up either.
So I am hoping to get an answer to this question before I have to go back to the store where I bough t the flash Drives.

Missing Folder Outlook 2010

Hi all
Now, I've done it! Co-worker got a new computer..tech moved all emails & folders from his old Outlook Express to the new computer, which now uses Outlook 2010.
Co-worker didn't like the lay-out & asked me to fix it up...I am in-office tech [just don't get paid tech wages:(] & maybe this is why..lol...I tried to move a folder (he had created in old OE) higher up in the left hand pane by dragging it. Supposedly you can do this but this time the folder just up & disappeared on me. It is not in any of the other folders. I cannot search for a folder & do not know of any specific email in it to search for. I know it has to be there soemwhere but where?
Please, please, someone tell me how to find it before I have to admit to what I've done. These are important emails. Thanks, as always for any help!

Mouse Issue?

Hi,
yesterday I got help from JudyC to sort out my malware issue which was resolved. And at same time she helped me out with this 'annoying sound' in the background, a bit like the Windows "Device Connect" or Device Disconnect" sound. It was resolved for a moment, but then as soon as I restarted my computer (this is after JudyC closed the topic), the sound issue started again. And each time before I hear the sound, my mouse would stop briefly. Then as soon as the sound was over, my mouse works again. But this thing kept on recurring. It's annoying.
