I wanted you to know that Ubergato has been in the hospital in very grave condition for awhile now. He has had heart surgery and right now things are not looking that good. I know he has many friends in the community and so I thought I would let you know. He surely could use all our thoughts and prayers right now.

He treasured his time in MSN communities at Odd People and Community Feedback. And though we have scattered throughout the WWW I am sure the friendships endured.

I'm sorry to hear he's so ill. I'll be keeping him in my thoughts and I'm sure others will as well.

Will keep him and his loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted on his condition.

I hope and pray he recovers completely.

I am glad I posted here! I wasn't sure how many people are still around that would remember him.

I will be sure to keep you updated. I haven't had any new information. What I do know is that he had a heart attack and then had triple bypass surgery. There were complications and since last Sunday he has been on a heart pump. They have tried to wean him off but his heart is still irregular.

The person who gives me information does not have a computer so I might have to wait until Monday for more information. Of course, if something changes I will get a phone call and I will let everyone know.

I have asked my friend to let Ubergato know that you are aware of his plight and that you are sending thoughts and prayers.

Some good news now! Ubergato has been taken off the heart pump. He is in stable condition, though he remains in the ICU sedated and ventilated. He has been through a whole lot and sometimes healing takes a long, long time.

There has been some news that is worrisome.

Modern medicine is so good about keeping a body alive. They have the machines that will do all the physical work, but while they are keeping a person alive on machines they have to keep him well sedated. While they are doing that they don't really have a good way of knowing his mental status. They have some idea of the neural functions but it is not until they begin to wake the person up that they know really how he is.

Now.. they are worried about our Ubi because he is not responding to stimulus of various sorts. That means they have been doing things that should cause him to pull away or wince.. even in a lightly sedated state.. and he is not reacting. So tomorrow they will do an EEG... electroencephalogram.. which measures electrical activity in his brain. They are also going to do a CT scan... to see if that sweet, magnificent brain of his is swollen or damaged somehow.

So keep him well in your thoughts tonight, and keep praying for him to wake. Tomorrow will be a crucial day for him.

Sorry for the length of time between updates... sometimes it is that long between the times I hear. I am so far away from him.

The news I just got was that he is in stable condition and for the first time HE OPENED HIS EYES AND FOLLOWED COMMANDS!

Quoting from an email: the doctors .... have excellent confidence in Ubi's brain activity. The Drs are thinking now Ubi may have had a stroke which would have
led them to believe the no activity. Possibly as soon as tomorrow, Ubi will be moved to the MS Veterans hospital to the Critical
Care area for full recovery. This is a good sign that he is no longer in CICU but will still be monitored every minute.

Once Ubi is at VA hospital we will have more information on how to contact him directly!
