Firefox has issued 3.5.8 which is a security and stability update for 3.5.7. (This is not to be confused with Firefox 3.6 that caused all the problems here at CF and elsewhere.)

It is strongly recommend that all Firefox users upgrade to this latest release. If you already have Firefox 3.5 or Firefox 3, you will receive an automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours. This update can also be applied manually by selecting "Check for Updates…" from the Help menu.

Read about it here: http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vuln.../firefox35.html

Release notes here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5.8/releasenotes/
(Please ignore the enticing little green "Download Now" box on the right side of the page...)

Thank you, Ally.

Got updated to v 3.5.8 via Check for Updates (Tools). No trouble whatsoever.

You made it quite clear that the security update has to do with having version 3.5.7 and has nothing to do with version 3.6. I wouldn't want v 3.6 at this time.

You're welcome Mums! That might be best since 3.6 has so many documented problems now.

I wish I had know about this when I downgraded from 3.6 to 3.5.7/8. But for anyone else who may be considering dumping 3.6 and returning to the previous version, especially if you have a lot of add-ons, this tool quickly re-installs them in one fell swoop.

It's called FEBE and it backups all your current add-ons and preferences from Firefox before you uninstall it. Then, once you've downgraded, instead of having to re-download each of those add-ons individually, FEBE has placed them into a folder for a quick re-install of everything at once.

Actually whilst uninstalling 3.6 it gave me the option of deleting everything like add-ons, favs etc or keep them if I was reinstalling another version. Good program though All thanks regular_smile.gif

Thank you for the advice.
I downloaded Firefox 3.6 and had problems with sites, thought it was a bad download, went to add/remove, removed Firefox, rebooted, reinstalled 3.6, still problems, remembered I'd read something about problems with Firefox 3.6, scrolled back through General until I found this thread, removed Firefox 3.6, rebooted, downloaded 3.5.8 from this link (reply 10) and all the problems I was having are fixed.
